This beautiful traditional yacht with its huge varnished mahogany on oak hull is daunting in her sheer size. Built at Cowes in 1957 for the Hon Max Aitkin she was described as "the most technical yacht to have appeared for years.

She has been lovingly restored and looks absolutely stunning. During 1986 she was given a long fin keel, and fin and skeg rudder. In total she has been tested with up to 10 different rigs to promote just that extra bit of speed out of her.

Her graceful sheer line disguises a length of raised depth amidships which provides necessary depth within the shallow body of the hull, and the incidental advantage of forming a breadwater a few feet forward of the mast, where a portion of foredeck drops into a well with a foot rail.

Never before has such a traditional and graceful yacht been available on the South Coast. She is truly a yacht with extreme pedigree and character and will not fail to impress.

She is available for skippered charter only and can accommodate up to 12 guests.

MEC Sail offers a unique day, whether you wish to participate in the sailing of the yacht or just sit back and enjoy the sights of the Solent. The saloon can provide comfortable dining for 12 people.

Typical Schedule for a Corporate Day

On arrival at Ocean Village Marina, Southampton (or at another port of your choice) you will be met by a member of our staff and escorted to your yacht. You will be welcomed on board by your skipper/hostess, served a champagne breakfast with a selection of hot filled rolls, croissants, ice cold champagne, coffee and tea.

Your skipper will give a full safety briefing on board and outline all of the safety features on board the yacht. He will then discuss with you the general programme for the days event.

A sumptuous lunch may be provided on board or ashore depending on your requirements. Please consult our menus or call for details.

Crew positions will be allocated for those wishing to get involved with the sailing and the programme planned according to the strengths and preferences of the crew.

You will then depart Ocean Village and head towards Southampton Water and the Solent, your hostess or skipper will keep you informed on all the landmarks on route. You may care to head for the Needles on the Isle of Wight or go East up towards Portsmouth and the naval dockyards. We can incorporate an anchor stop if you would like to have an on board meeting or perhaps go swimming off the rear of the yacht (weather permitting) if so desired. Cowes on the Isle of Wight is a very popular destination for a great lunch and leg stretch.

Soft drinks and snacks will be served throughout the day by our hostess.

You will have the opportunity on passage to take the helm, learn navigation and sailing techniques before returning to Ocean Village for post sail drinks to complete your luxury day out.
