The Farr 52 is a renown racing yacht with true pedigree. Designed for optimum performance within the complex handicap system they have sustained an impressive display of results on the racing circuits.

These boats are just plain quick for there size and a joy to sail on and off the race track.

The Farr 52 is a moderate to light displacement yacht which is very powerful. She has a low centre of gravity, a generous sail plan and up to the minute appendage design. She is faster downwind than many other high performance race yachts.

The hull is all carbon fibre combined with a cast fin keel, lead bulb and minimal internal ballast. The hull shape is long and lean and has many of the benefits of the extensive testing carried out on the Volvo 60s.

The rig has swept spreaders, short footed headsail and no running backstays. A large racing cockpit with twin wheels and pedestals for both the main and primary winches, offer the crew a wide open yet tidy workplace.

Accomodation below is minimal, consistent with requirements for longer distance offshore events.

She is available for skippered charter only and can accommodate up to 12 guests.

MEC Sail offers a unique day, whether you wish to participate in the sailing of the yacht or just sit back and enjoy the sights of the Solent. The large centre cockpit provides a table for alfresco dining, with an inbuilt cool box drinks compartment. The saloon can provide comfortable dining for eight people.

Typical Schedule for a Corporate Day

On arrival at Ocean Village Marina, Southampton (or at another port of your choice) you will be met by a member of our staff and escorted to your Farr 52 yacht. You will be welcomed on board by your skipper/hostess, served a champagne breakfast with a selection of hot filled rolls, croissants, ice cold champagne, coffee and tea.

Your skipper will give a full safety briefing on board and outline all of the safety features on board the yacht. He will then discuss with you the general programme for the days event.

A lunch may be provided on board or ashore depending on your requirements. Please consult our menus or call for details.

Crew positions will be allocated for those wishing to get involved with the sailing and the programme planned according to the strengths and preferences of the crew.

You will then depart Ocean Village and head towards Southampton Water and the Solent, your hostess or skipper will keep you informed on all the landmarks on route. You may care to head for the Needles on the Isle of Wight or go East up towards Portsmouth and the naval dockyards. We can incorporate an anchor stop if you would like to have an on board meeting or perhaps go swimming off the rear of the yacht (weather permitting) if so desired. Cowes on the Isle of Wight is a very popular destination for a great lunch and leg stretch.

Soft drinks and snacks will be served throughout the day by our hostess.

You will have the opportunity on passage to take the helm, learn navigation and sailing techniques before returning to Ocean Village for post sail drinks to complete your luxury day out.
