CORK WEEK 2010 - 10th - 16th JULY

Cork Week 2008 racing charter packagesMEC is offering a range of charter and crewing opportunities for the world renown Cork Week racing regatta based in Crosshaven Ireland. As well as some very competitive racing during the day the regatta offers some of the best après sailing, with parties and chinanigans going on to the small hours as only the Irish know how!

This is what you will learn: preparation of yacht for racing, race tactics and rules, starting procedures and techniques, race navigation around the course, electronic aids, boat handling, sail and spinnaker trimming, crew roles.

We are able to provide a wide range of yachts for racing, but we specialise in Sigma 38s and Beneteau 40.7s. All yachts have full race spec and clean bottoms. Please enquire for any other yachts.

BAREBOAT RACING: £4,250 ex VAT per Sigma £6,500 ex VAT per Beneteau 40.7 (one week)
Additional charge of £400 each way if you deliver and return yourself.
All yachts are available for bareboat racing charter, and can be delivered to Ireland if required at a cost of £600 each way inc VAT. Skippers are also available. Yachts can be collected for the outbound passage on the 7th July.

CORK WEEK CREW: £995 per person
Be part of a Cork Week racing team. It is not necessary to be an expert sailor but a little sailing experience would be an advantage. You may care to undertake some race training prior to the event. The cost for the week is £995 which includes race fees, berthing at Crosshaven and wet weather gear if required. Soft drinks whilst racing.

CRUISING OPTIONS TO AND FROM IRELAND:
This is an excellent opportunity to clock up some sea miles and gain some invaluable experience on ocean passages. As a crew member on passage you will be able to:

• Improve your experience as a crew member on all positions on board.
• Experience night sailing.
• Practice your navigation skills coupled with long distance passage planning.
• Display your culinary prowess whilst at a 30 degree angle.

Food is provided at sea, but you are asked to bring drinks, sleeping bag and warm clothing. Wet weather gear is available for hire.

Southampton to Crosshaven: 6th July – 9th July. £295 per head.
No experience required but all hands are requested to take their turn in the galley. No flights included.
Crosshaven to Southampton: 16th July – 20th July. £295 per head.

All cruises subject to availability. Complete package price £1395 per head.
