The island is Italy’s second largest – an ancient island rich in history and legend. Only by sailing around the island can its uniqueness be appreciated. Its waters team with fish, its rugged mountains are bisected by fine sand beaches with crystal clear waters. You will also experience the unmistakable perfume of the macchia Mediterranea (the Mediterranean shrub), which characterises almost all Sardinian landscapes and is ever present. The wind carries the aroma of myrtle, arbutus, rosemary and wild juniper which fills the yacht with sweet scented air. Coupled with Corsica in the north, across the Straits of Bonifacio, this area offers the most fantastic sailing ground.

Our yachts are based in the north of Sardinia at Cannigione. Open from June to October, it is the perfect place to start a cruise of this stunning island which boasts some of the most beautiful coastlines in the Mediterranean.

Situated at the heart of the Maddalena archipelago, this sailing paradise consists of 23 large and small islands, of which only La Maddalena is inhabited. The islands form a national park which preserves their natural beauty and resources.

As well as the Port of Maddalena, there are many places to stop between the islands, but visitors need to be aware of the sand banks and anchoring restrictions in the area. The nearby Port of Palau on the main island offers excellent mooring facilities and is overlooked by the city of the same name.

Sail down the Costa Smeralda coast to Porto Cervo to experience one of the most luxurious and exclusive places in the Mediterranean, which welcomes some of the largest superyachts and has a nautical centre reserved for the 12 metre sailing boats of the Americas Cup.

The east coast of the island is marked by cliffs and hills as you head south to Cagliari, the capital of the island. To the west, the rocky coast of Nebida and Masua is wild and staggeringly beautiful and is exposed to the strong North-North/West winds that over thousands of years have moulded it. As you head north, you encounter kilometres of long sandy beaches, interrupted by cliffs and fishing villages. A perfect place for peace and quiet.

For a week’s charter you can cruise the islands, for two weeks you could include Southern Corsica and some of the Sardinian coastline. Sailing here is excellent, there are always good winds, however good navigational skills are required.
