Sailing is a natural teambuilding activity, with all having to participate and co-operate with each other and communicate effectively to enable the yacht to sail efficiently and safely. No experience is required as our highly professional skippers will show you the ropes and get your team working together as a unit. As the team learns and progresses, they see how interacting contributes to the team performance, giving a great sense of unity and achievement.
The teambuilding element can be as formal or informal as you like, because we want the experience to be enjoyable, as well as exciting and informative. Outdoor training can be a powerful means of developing self-understanding, interpersonal skills and building teams.
Our skippers will adopt a variety of exercises to ensure you and your staff get the most out of the experience.
Within one day, crew members will learn to sail the yacht, navigate and take onboard some racing techniques. Whether you are all on one yacht, or have two or more identical yachts for some fun racing, new skills will be learned, communication improved and the competitive spirit will be alive and kicking!
Suggested Itinerary

0900 Arrive at Ocean Village Marina, Southampton – we will meet you and introduce you to your skipper. Breakfast and refreshments will be served and following the safety briefing, you will set sail up Southampton Water and into the Solent for a morning’s sail training which will include helming, hoisting of sails, winching, navigation and some race training.
Training is very ‘hands-on’ and everyone is given the chance to get fully involved in every role. This provides an understanding of how crew members work with each other to get the best performance from the yacht. Refreshments will be served during the morning.
1230 – 1400 Lunch can be provided on board anchored in a picturesque bay off the Isle of Wight, or ashore in Cowes in a pub or restaurant. We can arrange onboard catering or book a venue of your choice.
1400 Return the yacht for an afternoon’s sailing in the Solent – if you have two or more yachts, we can organise an informal race course around the buoys back to Ocean Village Marina so the crew can maximise their newly-found sailing skills! The crew will find that racing will demand quick decisions and maximum activity to ensure they are on course to try and win and it certainly brings out most peoples competitive spirit! It’s great fun and the crew are very much encouraged to sail the yachts themselves and to make decisions without the help of the skipper, although he is on hand at all times to keep a guiding eye on the proceedings. Afternoon tea and cakes will be served.
1700 Berth at Ocean Village Marina, Southampton for post-sail drinks to complete the day’s events.
