COWES WEEK 2008

COWES WEEK

Cowes Week is an annual yachting regatta which became famous in the 1860’s.

Since then, Cowes Week has been a great social occasion, one often attended by members of the Royal Family. Cowes is the UK’s most famous sailing resort, and its Royal Yacht Squadron is probably the world's most famous yacht club.

The end of Cowes Week is celebrated with the popular fireworks display held on the Friday evening. We are offering bare boat racing and corporate hospitality days.

COWES WEEK 2008: 2nd - 9th August

Cowes is renowned as the yachting centre of the world. The first Cowes Week race ever, began at 9.30 on 10th August 1826 for £100 gold cup. Since then its range of races and events has steadily grown and flourished.

It was during the late 19th century Cowes Week reached its heyday when the cream of English society came to the town, though the town itself remained unconcerned with the fashionable flurry of the day. It is now the main yacht racing event probably in the world.

CORPORATE HOSPITALITY DAYS - SAILING, MOTOR YACHTS OR RIBS

MEC Sail are offering Corporate hospitality days at Cowes week again this year.

The day is organised to suit the requirements of the party, and will provide front-row viewing opportunities of the racing event, on-board catering, hands-on sailing and a visit to the celebrations and festivities on shore at the end of the day. If you are just watching our experienced skippers will position you right next to the action for top quality photos and then keep you informed of all the action right as it happens before you.

The day sail can be made up of cruising to watch the racing or indeed taking part in the race. Accomodation can be offered on board or ashore.

BAREBOAT

As in previous years MEC Sail are offering their fleet of yachts for this prestigious event. Qualified skippers can be provided if required. The yachts can be prepared, and crew kit provided in company colours if required. Please contact us for further details and prices.
